Steve Irwin Day

Steve and Bindi IrwinSteve Irwin Day on November 15 will be a day for remembering the one and only Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. The day will represent the many things Steve was passionate about; family, wildlife and FUN. You can get involved in a number of ways including visiting Australia Zoo for an action packed day, having a Backyard Camp out or donning your khakis for Khaki Day. All proceeds raised from these activities will go to Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Worldwide. CRIKEY! It is a word made famous by one man, the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. A man who lived in his khakis and spent most of his time darting the bite of a venomous snake, wrestling a nine foot croc or anything else that was, well, simply out of the ordinary. He had an infectious personality that was saturated with enthusiasm and a love for life and wildlife alike. Little would he know it, but his “out there” persona and “can do” attitude would have him stirring a crowd where ever he went. His wild antics started from a young age, and having parents that cared for wildlife, it’s no wonder Steve’s drive for life was fueled from wildlife.s the host of the Crocodile Hunter, Steve wowed audiences by the millions. He crouched in scorching heat and sloshed in thick mud for one purpose: because he was committed to the survival of all wildlife and their wilderness. A cut cheek, grazed knee or sliced hand would not slow him down or prevent him from saving as many animals as possible. Especially the crocs, because like Steve used to say: “Crocs rule!” It has been decided that the anniversary Steve’s passing on September 4 will be reserved as a quiet, private day for the Irwin family and Australia Zoo. In true Steve style, we look forward to celebrating his life, which we feel is more appropriate to do following the September 4 anniversary. Accordingly, plans have been made for this special day on Thursday, November 15. September 4 is a day for Steve’s family, friends and fans to reflect, whilst November 15 will be a day of celebration, just the way Steve would have liked. November 15 was the birthday of Australia Zoo’s Giant Galapagos Land Tortoise, Harriet. At 175 years old, Harriet was a friend to all at Australia Zoo and especially close to Steve; the two of them shared a special bond until Harriet’s passing in June 2006. Australia Zoo felt this was the perfect day to celebrate Steve’s life as it was always a very special day to Steve. Steve Irwin was immediately recognizable around the world in his trademark khaki uniform - it was his go anywhere, signature style and he wore it with pride. From red carpets to croc rescues, Steve and his khakis always took centre stage! We can’t think of a better way to salute Steve Irwin – the Crocodile Hunter and the original Wildlife Warrior – than by wearing khaki on Steve Irwin Day, 15 November 2007.You can participate by:

• wearing khaki to your workplace for the day
• collecting donations for Wildlife Warriors
• Protecting wildlife and habitat by sending your donations to Wildlife Warriors so that we can continue the conservation work that Steve started It’s easy!

Backyard Camp-out is Wildlife Warriors’ major appeal for 2007 and is being conducted as part of the Steve Irwin Day activities. It is a chance to celebrate Steve’s life and achievements and make sure that his conservation work continues through Wildlife Warriors. It doesn’t matter what sort of backyard you have - you can still camp-out. Hang a hammock on your veranda, pitch a tent in the backyard, ask your class and school to camp out on the oval. Camp on your own. Camp with family. Camp with friends. Just get out there and camp like Steve did and help us connect people with their environment, collect money and help Wildlife Warriors protect wildlife and habitat.

Bindi hosts TV special about dad

Bindi IrwinCrocodile Hunter Steve Irwin’s daughter Bindi will commemorate the anniversary of her father’s death by hosting a one-hour program on the Nine Network. Bindi, nine, will host My Daddy The Crocodile Hunter on September 1, airing unseen home videos and talking about her unique childhood with the world famous showman and wildlife campaigner. Since her father’s death, Bindi has become a star in her own right with a hit live tour, TV show and DVD release. The TV special will be her prime-time TV debut and will include her working with her father on his last research trip before he was fatally speared by a stingray at Batt Reef, in far north Queensland. On September 3, the eve of the anniversary of Irwin’s death, Nine will also air the program Secrets of the Crocodile. This hour-long program hosted and narrated by Irwin’s widow Terri, will feature Irwin on his final adventure involving crocodiles through northern Australia’s Cape York Peninsula. For this program, after tracking the movements of crocodiles from space using satellite transmitters, Irwin attached cameras to crocodiles to better understand their behavior underwater. Despite the high profile TV appearances, Terri, Bindi and her three-year-old brother Robert will be on a camping trip for the anniversary. Their Sunshine Coast wildlife sanctuary Australia Zoo, founded by Irwin, will be open but a spokeswoman for the family said efforts would be made to keep the day a “low-key” affair.

Smoothies are more than youre the average juice. You make them from natural en fresh ingredients, the whole fruit is in it so you keep all anti-oxidanten in the smoothie. You can keep it very healty and use naturel tastmakers like ahornsirup or honey. But you can make them extra tastefull with crème and likor. To make youre self you need a blender and yust use any type of fruit you like and yust combine. You need around 250 gram of fruit to make a smoothie, peel, cut and remove pips. Use soft fruits like banana, mango, strawberry, peach or papaja. Banana is a favorit because it thinkins the mix of the fruits. You can use milk or yoghurt with it, mix it untill a smooth and sparkling. To make a smoothie with ice you can use icecubbs with youre 250 grams of fruit and 1 dl juice. And mix it in the blender. You have to pulverise the icecubs first and you can do so by putting the in a towel and hit them with a hamer.
